Easy (& Fun!) Ways to Prioritize Self-Care

It's easy to forget to take care of yourself when you feel like a ping-pong ball bouncing from one person’s schedule to the next! You promise to attend that yoga class or book a massage, or meditate, but somehow it never happens. Days turn into weeks and months, and you find yourself burnt out, frustrated, and overwhelmed.

At times like these, it's crucial to prioritize self-care to prevent burnout and rediscover the joy in life.

As a Holistic Lifestyle Coach running my own business and a mom, I understand that TIME is our greatest commodity! I've worked with many inspiring women who are juggling multiple responsibilities while struggling with physical pain or emotional stress. They put others' needs before their own, often sacrificing their well-being.

If this sounds familiar, please know that you are not alone.

The number one barrier to a balanced life is not scheduling the time for self-care practices that you love. But it's totally possible to change that.

Here are some easy and fun ways to prioritize self-care and create a routine that works for you:

  1. Make a list of self-care practices that are non-negotiable and one that is considered a “bonus.” Non-negotiable for you might be exercise and meditation. The bonus might be an evening bubble bath.

  2. Schedule the non-negotiable practices first in your planner or calendar app. Make it a priority, just like any other important task. Set reminders and allocate a specific time slot for each activity. Schedule the “bonus” self-care practice as a reward when the non-negotiables are complete.

  3. Involve your loved ones in your self-care routine. Let them know that you need some alone time to recharge, and ask for their support. This could mean delegating some tasks or simply having them respect your self-care time.

  4. Get creative and try new things. Don't limit yourself to the same old routine. Mix it up, and experiment with different self-care practices that you've never tried before. This will keep things interesting and prevent boredom.

Remember, self-care is not a luxury, it's a necessity. Prioritizing self-care will help you prevent burnout and rediscover the joy in life.
